First Trip to the Zoo

Yes we packed up both kids and headed to the zoo for the first times out of many trips. It was such a blast, and even though we had nurses with it was nice to have an outing as a family. The girls did great. They both were looking around and paying attention to what we were showing them. They even took a long nap so we all could eat lunch. I was so happy that Courtney loved it. Now we know we can take her out on family outings.

Grandpa and Grandma came out to play once we got home from the zoo and the girls were happy to see them and have some one to play with other than the nurses. They got a little crabby towards the end but than they did have a big day.

Invites should be mailed out hopefully by Wednesday, than I can start buying the decorations for them. Cant wait. They are 11 months old today, one month three days till the are one!!!!

What a day.....

After Crystal ate breakfast we went down to play with Roman and Olivia. She got to try out their pooh bear walker and loved it. She can actually move backwards in it. I am so proud of her. She didnt want to be out of it. So cute. Than right before bedtime she became a little stinker. She was playing on the floor and had her finger in her trach nose and we think she somehow got the trach somewhat out and did turn a little bit blue. So we did a emergency trach change and oxygen, and than she was good. We are not exactly sure what she did...but she is sleeping soundly now.

Courtney didnt want to eat any food today, and she did so good yesterday. Oh well just a day at a time. She is sitting most of the time on her own now. When she was sitting up with her sister she decide to give her sister some payback and play with her trach. She is my sneaky and quiet one. We had her O2 below one liter today, which is great for her.

New weights

Crystal is now 14lbs 11ozs
Courtney is 16lbs 15ozs

Crystal has gained weight again, which is what they want. I told them I could get her to gain weight and I did. She learned a new trick. When she does her baby bridges backwards, she learned that she can roll from her back to her belly...then belly to back. She almost crawled, she started to move a little backward. She wont do this for her daddy though.

Courtney wasnt going to let her sister out do her today. She was rolling over from her tummy to back and than would laugh. She always is a sitting up queen now. Still falls over sometimes but we are getting better at this. She loves it when her nurse plays patty cake with her, but she didnt like it when her nurse did it with Crystal. She did awesome today when it came to eating baby food.

We got lots of snow today, hope they can go out and play in it soon.

A day for a walk

I got the appointment set for pictures next Tuesday. After I saw how proex did Olivia and Romans pictures, I decide that is where I am bringing my two. I also had a nice lunch out with Tammi, Olivia and Roman. It was good afternoon.

When I got back home, I had the nurses pack up the kids and we took them out on a walk. Crystal didnt mind it she it as a time to take a nap, and Courtney was okay with it if the stroller was moving and mommy wasnt putting her in the snowbank for pictures. It was a nice day for it and as long as the weather stays good we will be going out for walks.

A fun Day

Crystal yet again learned a new trick. She went from a crawling postion to a sitting postion all on her own. She is learning so fast but is being stubborn about this whole crawling thing. I am sure she will do it when no one is in the room. We think we got the whole eating thing under control, we need to use a bigger nipple for her.

Courtney has done great with the sitting up. Even was playing with toys while sitting today. She is getting so strong. Herlungs are even getting stronger. When we take her off the vent to move her from one room to the other, I keep her off of it a little longer and she dosent change colors or throw a fit. She is always screaming over her trach when she is not happy. So strong.

Durn bath tonight they were playing together, it is so cute when they do.

A weekend with alot of first

Crystal Ann finally reached for her mommy when someone else was holding her. I was so proud of her, this was a first for her. She was out playing on the deck yesterday for a little bit and she loved it. We brought her to Target with her nurse and she did great. She was so happy to be out for awhile. I had her sitting on those bottom shelfs the ones by the floor and she was sitting on the edge and with her feet flat on the floor, getting so big.

Courtney Jo was sitting up today for almost two whole minutes, we are getting closer. She even would catch herself before falling down. She will be sitting perfect by her first birthday. She is still doing great with eating. She has her favorite foods and those would be the sweet ones, like the ones with pineapple in it.

We got a new playpen this weekend and it is huge. Big enough to hold them both, even when they start moving around on us. It been a busy weekend around here with so many family hours, but thats how it goes when you are raising twins. Plus we are planning their party.

Not much new here

Crystal went out with mommy and Tammi shopping. It was nice to be out for a little bit. When we were eating, she decide to take off her trach nose and throw it on the ground, so mommy had to go searching through the bag to find a new one. Other wise she did great. She is getting closer to crawling.

Courtney did great with eating some baby food today. She enjoyed it and thats what we want from her. She really is starting to learn, alot of things are coming from her big sister, such as when I cry I know mommy will pick me up, or if I want attention just pull something apart. Trouble Marker in the Making.

Two Days in one

Lets start with yesterday:
Crystal wanted nothing to do with her sallow study, so we got no results. In other words we made a trip to the doctors for nothing. My little stinker butt. But who can blame her, I dont think I would want to drink that weird tasting stuff ether.
Courtney learned a new trick. She is now always rolling over while on her belly. It takes her awhile because of all the tubing that she has but she does it and loves it. She was talking and laughing tonight. She would have a comeback to everything you had to say to her. It was so cute.

Today:
Courtney had her sallow study and did better than her sister. She cant have anything that is thin, which means liquids. Baby foods is fine with as long as she is not crying. So it went good for her and we are going to try and get her some speech therapy.
Crystal has been good today. She is my little trouble maker these days. She dosent sit still at all and for nothing. She was laying on the floor and some how pulled her trach out. Her nurse was right there, so we got it back in. The good thing is, that she didnt turn any color and really wasnt crying. More of a fussy cry than a hurt cry. Thats great news.

New weights are
Crystal is 14lbs 5ozs....she has fianlly gained weight...mommy is so good
Courtney is 16lbs 6ozs.....she went up 6ounces in a week

Follow Up Appointment from Tuesday

Well we got great news about the kids.

Well Crystal is at a 7 month old development level and she is only 6 and a half months old. We are so proud of her. Than she took two 3 ounce bottles which is a lot for this little peanut. Than when we got home she decided to show us a new trick. When she is put in the crawling position she will rock herself and did move backward a little. She will be moving by her first birthday.

Courtney isnt as far along than her sister, she is more between a 2 month and 4 month old. But you got to remember that she was in the hospital for so long. But when we got home she had to show off that she can sit up all by herself with no help. She has mastered the whole sitting up.

Both girls did gain some weight, just like we want them to. Plus they passed everything the doctor checked on them. Both girls will start getting private therapy in the house, mainly Courtney so she can get stronger.

Sliding day

We have a little toddler slide out on our deck, and since it wasnt that bad outside I bundled up Crystal and took her outside. She was having a blast. Than we brought it inside for Courtney to play with but she wasnt that sure of it. Crystal got daring and went down the slide by herself...she is only 10 months old.

We have a week of appointments. Tomo we have a follow up appointment at the Childrens in Minneapolis, since that is where my surgery was at. They will get their development checked. Wednesday will be Crystal's swallow study and Courtneys will be on Thursday. Lots of fun and traveling.

Here is some video of the kids playing:

Visting day

Great Grandma stopped by for a vist. Been awhile since the girls have seen her. This was the first time that she got to hold both of them together and see them in the same room at the same time. It was fun. Both girls showed her how they can roll over and sit up.

Thank you Auntie Janelle and Uncle Jon for the presents and to Grandma and Grandpa Hamilton for the diapers. Plus anyone else that I left out, Thank you for the gifts.

Grandpa Hitchcock and Grandma Becky came over to play today too. Grandma brought homemade cupcakes, and they are so good. Thanks Becky. Crystal was using Grandpas bald head as a drum it was so cute.

It was a great day.

Happy Valentines Day

It was a fun day as we celbrated our first Valentines day, plus our first holiday home together as a family. It was a great day. It is nice to spend a first with both girls at the same time in the same place.

Grandma Hitchcock brought over some presents, which was diapers and bath toys. Thank you Grandma. They got their first baby Care Bear from Mommy and Daddy. We had cupcakes and cookies for all the nurses today and tomo.

Crystal was being so cute today. She didnt like the taste of the frosting off the cupcake but she liked to play in it. She made a huge mess. She was trying to stand on her own even. I had her standing while leaning against something and she grabbed for my hand than let go of the chair, she was only on holding to mommy. Growing up to fast.

Courtney didnt like the frosting at all from the cupcake. Didnt think she would. She rolled over today after watching her sister all morning doing it. She almost has the rolling from back to tummy down. Just a little bit more time with that.

What a busy day

Crystal got to go over to Grandma Hamiltons to do laundry and she got to play with Great Grandma. Than we all went out to Applebees for dinner. She did great till mommy got her food than she got a little fussy, but what can you expect when she has a tooth coming in. She got to sit at the table like a big girl in the highchair. I bought her a highchair proctecter. She also learned a new trick today....I put her in the swing and she can sit up on her own in it and was making it swing by herself. So cute

Courtney was loving tummy time even with her owie on the tummy. The owie wasnt bleeding that much today. So we are hoping it is getting better. This girl knows how to take a nap, wish she could teach her sister that trick. She is very close to sitting up on her own, maybe just another few days more. She can do it for a few seconds so we are getting there. When we put them to bed she was whacking her sister till she criesd, she didnt want to share her crib.

Crystal can move

New Weights are in
Crystal is now 13lbs 14ozs..........yes she lost some weight but she is strating to cut another tooth
Courtney is now 16lbs even

Crystal learned that when she rolls over she can move from one point A to point B. She will roll from tummy to back, than push herself on her back...than she will roll back to her tummy and scoot backward. It was so cute to watch. I put her in one spot, left the room and she was in another spot. My goofy little girl can move, but that equals trouble.

Courtney was a little fussy today, but just like her sister I think she is cutting a new one too. She has a owie by her mickey that has been bleeding on and off so i think that might be bugging her too. She loved her bath tonight. She was watching her sister so much and trying to do what she does.

Here is the video of Crystal doing her new trick:
